2018 Mar-12 : Things have been a bit quiet looking, but there has been lots going on in the background... First, we may have finally found an attorney that is willing to take a crack at our liability issues. In parallel we have an independent developer doing a code review so that we can open up the source. Finally I have been working on the fucking machine angle to try and make that accessory a reality. Oh, and we put up a twitter account that you can follow too. -Cheers!

About Us

D.Type Toys is a new startup with the intent of developing techy toys for Tops, Doms, and Dommes.

Dom.Assist started as an idea in 2011 to have a more intelligent way to control my TENS unit. The idea morphed in 2012 and development has been ongoing in my spare time since. This unit is both custom hardware and software, built around a Raspberry Pi.

Introducing Dom.Assist (tm)TM

Dom.Assist is a new category of toy, bringing the concept of "Kink Automation" to a new level. The design focuses on the gamification of Predicament Play with the goal of creating a platform where players can easily create and build their own scenarios.

It runs either pre-built games included with the system or games you can write yourself (currently requires knowledge of Python) that take input and provide interactive feedback.

The system has a number accessories that include: Motion sensing, Pendant button, Pulse Oximeter, LED Timer, Water pump, Gasmask valve, Vibrator wand AC relay, Audio playback, and more to come. *P.S. See the suggestions survey here.

What is Predicament Play?

Many of you had asked this, so let me try to define it as best as I can... Predicament play is a form of BDSM play in which a player is placed into a situation with the option of selecting one or more other situations, with each situation providing some benefit or relief that the other situations make more difficult. Generally each situational discomfort leads a player to selecting one of the other situations in an effort to find relief, and starting the cycle over. Wikipedia also contains a bondage specific definition.

An example utilizing Dom.Assist would be for edging (orgasm control): By running a Magic Wand vibrator via the feedback of a player's heartrate, the vibrator can be powered-on until just before the player reaches climax. As their heartrate increases just prior to climax, the vibrator is abruptly powered-off denying orgasm. Once the player's heart rate decreases, the vibrator is again powered-on and cycle repeats. Dom.Assist can run this scenario automatically allowing the Top or Dom/Domme to focus on other aspects of a scene.

Next Steps?

So from the overwhelmingly positive response at FFF50, there is definately interest... I'm looking for another 25 or so survey responses to get a larger sample group. At this stage, there are some legal and insurance issues to contend with, so there has to be enough of a market to cover the costs. Also the price range will determin 1. how much I need to cut costs on hardware production and 2. what accessories will be included in the base package. In the meantime while we wait for more survey results, I will keep working on accessory ideas and completing documentation.
